Hi and thanks for checking out my little niche in the wilds of cyberspace!

In a nutshell: I was born in Toronto, Canada, but I spent the bulk of my formative years in the small town of Peterborough, Ontario. In 2004, I completed my bachelor's degree in biology from Queen’s University. I then took a gap year (and a half) volunteering and working in Vancouver, British Columbia and the suburbs of Seoul, South Korea before heading back to school. In 2012, I received my doctorate in biology at York University in Toronto. Currently, I am living in South Korea, where I split my time between editing scientific manuscripts and homeschooling a little one.
Personal mission statement: As an ecologist, I am deeply committed to preserving the integrity and diversity of our planet's ecosystems. This is, after all, the only "pale blue dot" we have. I firmly believe that: 1) solutions for environmental problems will need to be grounded in science, and 2) the results of scientific research must reach wider audiences in order to have any impact. My personal and professional goals are to contribute to these two causes to the best of my abilities.
Thanks for reading.
